Deciding to leave the corporate jungle and start a home
business can eventually become a very lonely place to work.
Something like retiring and leaving all your fellow employees
you chatted with on a daily basis. After a while you lose
touch with them and only have your neighbors to chat with,
but if they are not retired, you do not have much in common
anymore and that closeness drifts away. You are now hibernating
and have very little social interaction.
Of course you could spend a lot of time chatting on the
Internet with other lonely souls, per tending to be anything
you want to be and no one is the wiser, but that is not real
interaction with people.
It also can effect the way you dress. A lot of
Internet home
business entrepreneurs claim that they work in their under ware
at home, as a sort of selling point for their programs, if this
is the case, eventually you can become a slob and it will show
up in your work. I have always felt better about myself dressed
as best as I could afford. I believe one should dress casual
when working at home but in clothes that makes you feel like
you are a successful business person.
You must keep your social interaction up or you will become a
hermit. Join clubs you are interested in, invite friends over,
stay in touch with employees you new when working for that other
guy, if none of this works for you, at least make friends with
the mail man.
Plan your day and work the plan and give your self some real
interaction time. Go out during the day, tell strangers you
have a three foot rule and give them your home business
opportunity business card, don't try and sell them, just hand
out your cards with a big smile, ask them if they have one,
sometimes they do and a conversation strikes up, but most
important this will give you a lift and make you feel like you
are a business person.
